Salt & Sugar: A Mother-Daughter Journey of Flavor
Salt & Sugar is the story of a mother and daughter, each with a passion for their craft. Mayra specialized in delicious, savory empanadas, while Nicole delighted customers with her delicate, sweet macarons. Though they had separate businesses—Bites by Mayra and Macas by Nikky—they always supported each other, choosing the same farmers markets to work side by side.
Over time, their shared dream grew, leading them to join forces. Today, what began as pop-ups and market stands has become Salt & Sugar, a registered business with a permanent home at York’s Central Market. Here, we bring together the best of both worlds—savory and sweet—in one place, continuing our journey as a family and serving our community with love.
